FACILITY OPERATIONS-IUB (BL-PHYP-IUBLA)
Capital Planning and Facilities works to ensure that IU campuses
are beautiful, functional, and sustainable supporting excellence in
teaching, learning, research, and community engagement across the
entire university.
A unit within Capital Planning and Facilities, Facility Operations
maintains our physical campus to support research, teaching, and
learning at Indiana University Bloomington. As a unit of Capital
Planning and Facility Operations provides wide-ranging services all

Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs electrical or electronic
wiring, motors, light fixtures, electric panels and controls, wall
clocks, compressors, and thermostats.
Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other
components, including installing low voltage and multimedia
cabling.
Performs custom electronic design and installation.
Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using
test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown
and correct the problem.
Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify
hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to
ensure compliance with codes.
Installs ground leads and connects power cables to equipment, such
as motors.
Bends conduit using electric or mechanical bender and places
conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or
other concealed areas, and pulls insulated wires or cables through
the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and
fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Participates in the training of apprentices and/or other workers as
needed.
Performs other general building maintenance as assigned. WORK
EXPERIENCE
5 years Verifiable journey level experience in the electrical field
OR Certificate in DOL apprenticed electrical trade
CEDIA Level 1 training and certification and Siemens Control
Systems knowledge
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in
installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and
equipment. Equipment utilized: Examples: drills, conduit benders,
drill presses, cable pullers, meters (volt, OHM, AMP, Meg), hand
tools, hand drills, lathes, and hoisting equipment
Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine
when and what kind of maintenance is needed
Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations or
ordinances
Ability to use a computer
Ability to determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed on
the job and use them safely
This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. The
person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions
