Job Description:
This position requires a strong team orientated leader that can
effectively supervise a diversified workforce staffed by a highly
skilled multi-craft workforce whose efforts focus around the
concepts of Continuous Improvement and Reliability Centered
Maintenance. The incumbent must be proactive utilizing innovative
methodologies to promote an atmosphere and activities that maintain
a cohesive, cost effective, collaborative, and safety conscience
workforce.The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of work
assignments; manpower scheduling, cost control, ensuring hourly
training needs are meet, conflict resolution, providing technical
assistance, discipline, and employee safety. The incumbent must be
a highly effective communicator being able to utilize a variety of
media, have strong oral and written skills, have excellent computer
skills, be a self-starter, is highly motivated, with strong
coaching and mentoring skills.**Position is required to work a
rotating swing shift consisting of day and night shifts**Job
Responsibilities:Learn, accept and live Century Aluminum's Safety
Mission StatementLeads a multi-craft workforce engaged in daily
maintenance activities so as to provide a seamless support activity
to the production units through optimization of maintenance efforts
with a single desire to build capacity through minimizing
disruptions in production schedules.Coaching and mentoring of
direct reports to maintain a cohesive team focused on departmental,
plant, and corporate goals while providing 24 hr - 7 day week
support for equipment problems.Provides technical expertise in
resolving day-to-day complex equipment problems while assisting
craftsman to logically think through and resolve issues; identify
and close gaps in skill levels observed in craftsman through
professional developmental courses.Establish
concepts/methodologies, do formal/informal observations and
coaching to ensure that execution of planned work is cost effective
and efficient through the judicial usage of both internal and
external resources.Coordinate and direct resources, internal and
external, required to maintain operations in various plant support
functions (ie. Administration, security, personnel buildings)
though ensuring facilities utilized by these functions are properly
maintained.Research, analyze, suggest, and develop plans to
implement new technologies that provide quantifiable advances in
support offered to the business units through application of
transparent activities and resource utilization. Initiate
activities and plans to maintain, enhance, and improve equipment
reliability through effective utilization of resources by applying
current best Preventive/Predictive Maintenance, Planning and
Scheduling, Work Execution, and Reliability Based Maintenance
practices within assigned areas. Collaborates routinely with all
levels of production & technical units to address a wide variety of
issues ranging from safety, quality, environmental, and equipment
related problems. Champion cost control initiatives through
application of technologies, process changes, and employee
involvement.Job Requirements: Technically competent individual with
expertise and experience in mechanical and electrical craft
fieldMinimum of six (6) years of experience and three (3) years of
technical support experience or an equivalent combinationBachelor's
Degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred;
or two (2) years education beyond high school in a technical
related fieldExperience with mechanical and electrical systems is
required, with knowledge about the amount of time required for
different scopes of repair on industrial equipment.Experience in a
unionized environment desiredAbility to build and sustain good
working relationships and work effectively in a team
environmentMust be achievement motivated and have a high energy
levelMust have effective planning and organizational skills and
effective communication skills (verbal, written, and
