First Federal Savings Bank is looking to hire a Building and
Grounds Assistant based in Evansville, Indiana.First Federal was
established on Evansville, Indiana's Westside in 1904 and is a
community bank currently serving the residents of Southwest Indiana
with seven branch offices located throughout Posey, Vanderburgh,
and Warrick Counties. Two Home Building Savings Bank branches,
which are located in Daviess and Pike County respectively, are also
owned by First Federal.Full-time employees of First Federal are

TRAVEL: Some travel (via company provided automobile) may be
required to handle maintenance/grounds requests at Northern
branches (Washington and Petersburg, IN.)HOURS: 40 hours/week;
workday hours may need to vary; holiday hours may be utilized for
workdays with a floating holiday given to make up for missed time,
Overtime may be required if maintenance/grounds needs dictate.
POSITION SUMMARY:Employee will perform routine and extensive
preventative maintenance and repair procedures on all company owned
buildings and property under the management of the building and
grounds manager. Employee will perform a variety of skilled duties
including grounds keeping, painting, carpentry, minor electrical
needs, or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining
and repairing company owned buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES:
- Completes required maintenance tasks in a safe and timely
- Performs general maintenance activities such as repairing
locks, changing lighting fixtures and light bulbs, and moving
- Maintain grounds by sweeping, handling snow and ice removal,
mowing, pruning trees, pulling weeds, and maintaining
- Performs routine, repetitive daily inspection and maintenance
necessary to both interior and exterior of buildings.
- Performs skilled tasks of general nature in connection with
installation, maintenance, repair and construction work in bank
owned building, such as, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing,
locksmith, carpet, and mechanic work.
- Performs skilled task of general nature in connection with
construction, installation and maintenance of roofs, furniture,
fences, cabinets, shelving, and a variety of other structures and
- Inspects properties and communicates with the building and
grounds manager regarding proper grounds keeping and general
cleanup and maintenance.
- Performs general grounds keeping on a daily basis; inspect the
outside and inside of grounds to ensure they are kept in a clean
and safe condition.
- Prepares and paints walls and woodwork or performs other types
of refinish; repairs carpet; performs custodial duties as
- Maintains accurate records of preventative maintenance
- Ability to quickly respond to maintenance emergencies for bank
owned buildings, including foreclosed properties.
- Maintain all storage, mechanical and electrical rooms.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- 5 plus years of related employment in building
- Certifications Preferred (electrical, HVAC, welding, plumbing,
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to interpret and follow documented
instructions/guidelines from maintenance manuals, manufacturers'
instructions and building codes for one or more building systems
(electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
- Ability to perform preventative and routine maintenance on
tools, equipment and attachments.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and basic power tools to
perform routine maintenance on buildings and related
- Develop knowledge of sustainable practices in routine
maintenances of building and operations.
- Ability to coordinate work and activities with others.
- Proficiency with computer applications required, including
Microsoft, Windows and Outlook.
- Ability to multi-task.
ADA REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an array of conditions both
inside and outside and potential exposure to weather extremes.
Employee may be exposes to fumes or airborne particles, moving
mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work
environment may be loud. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work involves
frequent periods of standing and walking, which may include
climbing ladders and staircases. Work involves stooping, kneeling,
crouching, twisting/turning and reaching; bending at the waist. May
be required to lift items weighing 75 lbs. or more. occasionally
and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force, carry, push, and
pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to perceive the nature
of sound, utilize near and far vision, depth perception, provide
oral information, and possess the manual dexterity to handle and
work with various materials and objects which are essential aspects
