Welding Specialist (Night Shift) - BWX Technologies, Inc. -
Mount Vernon, IndianaBWXT is looking for an evening shift Welding
Specialist to join its team in Mount Vernon, Indiana!The Welding
Specialist plays a critical role in manufacturing operations and
can expect to perform the following routine tasks:
- Assist welders and welding supervisors in critical welding
operations.
- Provide oversight of all welding operations on nightshift.
- Assist Welding Engineer in performance of duties and with
development of new processes and procedures
- Must be able to operate and qualify on automatic welding
equipment
- Performs development projects as directed by Welding
Engineering
- Assist in daily technical troubleshooting and assist with
installation of new welding equipment
- Drive quality and man-hour improvements in welding
operations.
- Performs other investigations and test programs as
required
- Assist in the set up of shop welds
- Assist and instructs on setup of robotic welding equipment
- Troubleshooting of welding operations (i.e., weldability
issues, welding equipment failures).The job will start with 6 - 9
months of training on day shift and then transition to a 4-10
schedule from 8:30 pm to 7:00 AM, Monday night through Thursday
night.Job Requirement/Qualifications
- High School graduate, or equivalent, formal welding technical
education (Trade School for example) is a plus but not
mandatory
- 6 to 8 years of welding experience in a shop environment
- Applicants should have a good understanding/working knowledge
of manual, semi-automatic, and mechanized/automatic welding
processes
- Experience with robotic welding is a plus
- Hand-on welding experience is desirable to aid in assisting
shop personnel
- Ability to work on a PC, using Microsoft Office
applications
- Ability to work well with various departments
- Ability to follow detailed manufacturing plans and answer
questions for shop personnel
- Strong interpersonal skills supporting collaboration and
teamwork with a diverse group of engineering, operations, and
materials management personnel is required.
- U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship is required along
with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.As
