Analyst/Programmer Corporate IT 1st Shift

TITLE: Analyst/Programmer

PLANT: Corporate

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

REPORTS TO: IT Director

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

This position requires an understanding of various programming languages and database design. The duties consist of researching, designing, implementing and managing software programs. Testing and evaluating new programs. Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and developing these modifications. Assist in administering web and database servers. Preparing and maintaining documentation for software programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and write computer programs to perform specific tasks related to organizational goals.
  • Create workflow diagrams and charts to demonstrate the functionality of programs before coding them.
  • Work with team members to find creative, innovative solutions to problems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their needs and devise ways to accommodate them with software.
  • Write and continually update documentation for all programs for internal and external reference.
  • Identify and Define system security requirements for various applications.
  • Perform on-going security testing and code reviews to improve software security.
  • Design and create database and table structures for transactional and analytical applications.
  • Design and create BI reports using Cognos, Tableau, etc.
  • Design, develop and maintain applications developed in .Net, PHP, Python and JavaScript.
  • Utilize GIT repositories for cloning, creating branches, committing, merging, comparing changes across versions of code and more.
  • Utilize Agile software development life cycle for project delivery model.
  • Run software tests to spot and resolve bugs and inconsistencies.
  • Write and maintain maintenance programming as required to facilitate changes to system designs or end user specifications.
  • Provides technical support for internally developed programs and purchased software packages.
  • Trains end users or technical support staff to use and support programs.
  • Assists in the daily operations of the computer systems (backup tapes, assistance to end users, data transfers, etc.).
  • Able to work weekends, overtime and be on call as required.
  • Must be willing to be part of the on-call rotation to answer questions and troubleshoot issues outside of normal business hours.
  • Follows all prescribed safety regulations including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment---
  • Followsall Environmental Policy and Quality Policy guidelines.
  • Maintainsthe work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition according toestablished Gibbs 7-S Guidelines.
  • Performsother duties as assigned by management. REQUIRED SKILLS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education, knowledge, skills and abilities:

    Education: Associate's degree or higher is preferred, preferably in Computer science or related field.

    Experience: Two years or more related experience in relational database design, implementation, and data analytic tools (IBM Cognos, IBM TM1 and Salesforce). Experience designing, building, and supporting the components of data warehouse, such as ETL processes, databases, reports, and reporting environments.

    Communication: Needs to possess excellent communication skills, able to train and help work through issues with end users, and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Math: Ability to do basic math calculationsandapply concepts of algebra.

    Computer Skills: SQL, C# (.net Core a plus but not necessary), Python, PHP, and proficient use of Microsoft Office; Knowledge of Agile Software Development (Scrum, Kanban, etc.), Jira, GIT

    Other: Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Complete all required classes assigned through the online learning system or provided by software vendors.
