Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Observation Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: IN or compact license required Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support required Must-Have: - Med/Surg experience - Proficient in starting IVs and nasal cannula - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias (preferred) - Previous charge experience (preferred) Description: Charge coverage may be required depending on operational needs, with provided training and resources. Candidates must be comfortable with charge nurse responsibilities. Travelers must be willing to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals. The unit is medical-surgical and directly adjacent to the emergency department. Patients are typically held overnight for continued evaluation as observation patients. Common diagnoses include COVID, abdominal pain, respiratory distress, and other symptoms requiring further workup. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Local candidates are not accepted for this role. Minimum experience requirement is strictly enforced. Background policy applies. A total of 12 hours of non-billable modules is required prior to starting.
