Nephrology Opportunity - Cape Girardeau, MO
- The Nephrologist will treat disorders of the kidney, both
chronic and acute, disorders of high blood pressure, fluid,
electrolyte and mineral balance and mange complications of kidney
failure necessitating dialysis when the kidneys do not function.
The Nephrologist will also provide medical direction to the
Nephrology staff, collaborate with colleagues and have oversight of
the Nephrology Services provided at SoutheastHEALTH. The following
list of job responsibilities is not exhaustive but intended to more
specifically describe the activities the Nephrologist will be
responsible for carrying out when on duty.
AS YOU BEGIN:
- Consult and care for patients with acute and chronic kidney
disease, hypertension, electrolyte abnormalities and kidney
stones
- Serve as the primary care provider for patients receiving
dialysis treatment or those who have received a kidney
transplant
- Design treatment plans that prevent injury or manage its
consequences, including prescribing renal replacement therapy or
evaluating and managing a patient through a kidney
transplant
- Lead a multidisciplinary team and ensure the quality of care
delivered to the patients and compliance with regulatory standards
are met
- Perform diagnoses testing, establish health care plans and
manage patient care
- Evaluate kidneys to determine treatment plan
- Understand and respect the importance of patient
confidentiality and privacy
- Complete all clinical documentation requirements for patients
and the care provided in a legible and understandable
manner
- Complete billing and coding information in a legible, accurate
and timely fashion
- Communicate with co-workers regarding medical, administrative,
nursing or patient care complaints or issues in a timely and
accurate manner
- Provide the physician component of decisions regarding
assessment, determination of predicted outcomes and
discharge
- Participate as requested with management in preparation for
TJC, State or other accreditation agencies
- Participate in activities promoting the Nephrology
department
- Ensure that all certifications/licenses (e.g. Missouri State
license, BNDD, DEA certificated) are kept current as required by
the department/Hospital
- Ensure that required continuing education (CME) is obtained and
the CME programs are approved in advance and within the scope of
the provided education budget
- Document patient care in the medical record in a timely
fashion
- Maintain good relations with the Medical Staff
- Assists in the training of staff
- Keep current on advancement or changes in the practice of
Nephrology
- Regularly attend department meetings
- Cooperate with hospital administration to understand hospital
operational and fiscal needs and to assist in the concerns, needs,
planning and program development of the Orthopedic and Nephrology
service line
- Any other duties as needed to drive to the Vision, fulfill the
Mission, and abide by the Values of the organization
