Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Critical Care Transport Nurse (CCTRN) provides high quality
nursing care including triage, assessment and treatment utilizing
the policies and protocols within the scope of practice as directed
by the Critical Care Transport Program Medical Director. The CCTRN,
in collaboration with their partner, will assess the nature and
extent of illness and injury to establish and prioritize care
needed for a safe transport to an appropriate facility. The CCTRN
will be qualified to provide care for patients across the life
span. The CCTRN will be responsible the ensuring that safety
remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum.
The CCTRN will also be responsible for public relations activities
in the region, education of regional providers, quality review of
transports, case study reviews, among other PR and quality
activities. When not on flights, the CCTRN will "task" within the
hospital or other affiliated hospital facilities, as needed. This
position requires work on both air and ground ambulances during
assigned shifts.
Work Schedule: 24 Hour Shifts 8a-8a (1 shift on, 1 shift off, 1
shift on, 5 shifts off, and repeat).
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Diploma (Not HS) in Nursing
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License Illinois and Indiana
upon hire and Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire and Advanced
Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) ACLS-EP preferred upon hire and
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) upon hire and Trauma Nursing
Core Course (TNCC) within 3 months or Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS)
Certification within 3 months and Neonatal Resuscitation Program
(NRP) within 3 months and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
within 3 months or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) within 3
months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 100 within 6 months
and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 200 within 6 months and
National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 700 within 6 months and
National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 800 within 6 months and
Hazardous Materials Awareness Certification within 6 months and
National Nursing Certification Certified Flight Registered Nurse
(CFRN), or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) within 1 year.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) years' experience in area that includes high acuity and
critical decision making. These units may include, but are not
limited to: ICU, NICU, PACU, ED, L&D, House Officer, Rapid
Response RN or comparable hospital inpatient roles
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
-Highly trained and adaptable -Capable of working independently and
under high levels of stress -Maintain composure under pressure and
manage multiple priorities simultaneously -Excellent communication
skills
