Preventative Care & General Family Practice
Position Overview
We are all aware there is a veterinary shortage. - But we aren't
looking for just any veterinarian. - We're looking for a
veterinarian who is or aspires to become a leader or colleague in
local veterinary practice with an excellent reputation as a
veterinarian and community member.

looking for is a doctor who approaches pet families in partnership
with the entire veterinary team to enhance the quality of life of
the pet patients they serve and the human family members who love

Compensation and Benefits
Negotiable based on experience and skill-base salary is
$100k/yr
Longevity or student loan bonus payable over 2,3, or 4yrs (up to
$60k over four years)
PTO: 5 Days Flex/sick/bereavement days after 6 months, and 14 days
PTO after 1year.
Standard paid Holidays
$1000 CE reimbursed or funded after 1 year, up to $3000 for
proposed special interests after year 2.

Position Requirements
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
-
Live in Evansville, Indiana or can reliably commute.
A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD)
A License to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Indiana
or ability to obtain said license prior to work. - DEA registration
must be maintained.
Maintains a professional and safe environment in the practice and
refrains from negative talk, gossip, gestures or implied attitudes
that reflect poorly on the hospital or negatively impact the
working environment of staff members or supervisors.
Strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, regular
attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness are
essential.
Accepts responsibility or maintains accountability during patient
care-ability to listen to staff and clients objectively, helps set
the tone for a positive image of the practice. Clearly communicate
instructions to staff in respectful manner
Mentors new nursing and doctoral employees-assists with training.
Must demonstrate desire to continue learning in veterinary care and
participate in leading staff training.
Provides positive comradery, a spirit of community, and leadership
to RVT, CSRs, and Veterinary Clinical Assistant scheduled to work
the clinic and hospital shift with you. - Is willing to assist
staff with their duties when needed. -
Assist in keeping appointments running on time
Communicate pertinent information to colleagues for efficient case
management. - Is available to colleagues/management when off duty
for matters or questions that absolutely cannot wait
Understands staff injury protocols
Maintains patient, client and employee confidentiality
Understands and participates in Inclement weather protocols
Regularly attends outside CE meetings for a minimum of 20
hours/year. Shares information gathered at CE meetings with
colleagues and staff.
VETERINARY REQUIRMENTS
Ability to Provide Comprehensive Patient Work Ups
Obtains a complete history in conjunction and partnership with the
veterinary technician. - Performs thorough nose to tail physical
for each patient. -
Make notes on digital exam form, noting that same form serves as
client report card, and problems and diagnosis(es)
Recommends all appropriate comprehensive diagnostic screening
Correctly interprets diagnostic results
Makes customized preventative care and wellness recommendations
tailored to individual patient and patient family
Participates with other veterinary staff in ensuring that medical
boarders are in a medically appropriate state prior to
discharge.
Client Communication & Education Skills
Maintains current skills regarding client communication and
education-by email, text, phone, blog, vlog or in person.
Always asks if client has further questions or needs before leaving
the room or discharging patients
Communicates medical findings, recommended diagnostics, prognosis,
and recommended plan to pet owner in "standard of care, better, and
best" formats. "Meets people where they are" --is able to taken
owner constraints into account and make secondary standard
recommendations if necessary-empathetically communicates with or
works with diverse personalities and within diverse communities. -
Seeks support of administration, professional staff, and
paraprofessional staff to provide standard of care and best
practices. - Makes notes in chart to record all such
conversations.
Notes any recommendations declined by pet owner in medical record
with objectivity.
Provides status reports to client on hospitalized patient's
condition in timely manner
Performs timely discharge appointments, remembering to ask for any
questions or concerns the patient family may share. - Ability to
efficiently but compassionately direct conversations.
Responds to client phone calls in a timely manner
Diagnostic procedures & surgery
Performs appropriate pre-operative/pre-anesthesia exams &
diagnostics
Practices skilled basic soft tissue, general surgical techniques
and electives (spays and neuters, surgical oncology, wound repair,
etc.).
Practices skilled dentistry and supervises technician serving as
dental hygienist. - Provides ongoing dental plans of care to
families of our pet patients.
Ability to use and delegate appropriate surgical prep techniques
with technician
Calls back clients with results of diagnostic tests and uses
digital tools to provide copies with interpretation for pet
owner.
Reviews discharge instructions with technician or owner
Medical Record Responsibilities
Completes records by end of workday. No records are to leave the
practice. While the veterinary nurse/tech acts as scribe during
examinations and surgeries, the veterinarian reviews information
recorded by technicians and assistants and completes veterinarian's
portion of the record
Fully documents all patient care to ensure good case management
Pharmacy Duties
Prescribes appropriate medication for patient conditions with
appropriate dosing
Approves prescriptions, reviews labels for accuracy
Maintains security and logging of controlled drugs, INSPECT, and
follows legal protocols
Participates in monitoring inventory levels of controlled
substances
Financial and Facility Duties
Utilizes care when using equipment, electronics, and facilities, to
minimize maintenance issues. - Does not rely solely on staff to
maintain a clean and safe workspace
Minimizes missed charges in PIMS. - Minimizes waste of clinic
resources
Works with management, veterinary technicians, and CSRs to provide
client estimated invoices when requested or needed.
Clearly communicates costs to clients whenever possible with the
support of administration and staff
Follows hospital guidelines for client payment and credit
policies

Monday - Wednesday: -9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Every Other Thursday: -9:00am-6:00pm
Every Other Thursday - Off
Fridays: -9:00 am - 6:00 PM
Every Other Saturday 8:30am-12:30pm
