DescriptionJob SummaryTo perform diagnostic medical sonograms. Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures. Provides patient care.Essential FunctionsProvides excellence in hospitality, courtesy and compassionPerforms diagnostic medical sonogramsOperates equipmentPositions patientsImmobilizes patients as necessarySelects technical factors and imaging modeObtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with sonogramEvaluates sonograms for technical qualityAssumes responsibility to assure exams and procedures are charged correctlyAssumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinationsPerforms equipment calibrations and adjustmentsContributes to patient recordsAssumes responsibility for assigned areasProvides input for equipment and supply purchase decisionsInstructs specific units of didactic and/or clinical education in the sonographer program, if applicableAssumes responsibility for portions of the departmental quality assurance programPursues ongoing continuing educationMay control inventory and purchases of supplies for assigned areaDuties require interaction with patients of various age groups, social and economic backgroundsRegularly assists with the clinical experience of the student technologistsAny other duties as needed to drive to the Vision, fulfill the Mission, and abide by the Values of the organizationQualificationsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent required(OBGYN) ARDMS or ARRT - Obstetrics and Gynecology Upon Hire requiredEligible to take the ARDMS registry exam within 1 Year required
