Job Description:

Full-time position for Sterile Compounding Pharmacist located in Evansville, IN. Required credentials: Licensed R. Ph. in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy.(IN, KY) Must have experience in high-risk sterile compounding and be comfortable in working while suited up in sterile garb, including a full coverall with integrated hood, goggles, gloves, facemask, shoe covers, etc. The individual should understand the importance of detail orientation and be able to focus on repetitive tasks/procedures for extended periods, as our company strives to maintain top quality of our medications for our patient population. Recognizes patients rights and responsibilities and supports them in the performance of job duties; respects patients rights to privacy and confidentiality. Compounds patient specific sterile preparations for dispensing using aseptic technique. Reviews, processes, and checks physician orders and patient medication profiles. Maintains knowledge of USP chapter to assure the quality, sterility, and stability of compounded sterile preparations. Uses available resources to gather information on drugs, equipment, and patient monitoring. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of pharmacy work areas and the completion of quality control and performance improvement procedures as requested by the pharmacy manager. Verifies syringe orders and compounds based on physicians instructions. Prepares sterile medications for patient use assuring accuracy and sterility. Processes prescriptions with quality checks to ensure appropriateness and accuracy. Collaborates with other employees/departments to aid in directing work flow and assist in inventory control. Follows up with prescribing practitioners regarding missing information on deficient prescriptions. Garb (dress) into appropriate and distinctive cleanroom attire before entering the compounding area. This includes a full coverall with integrated hood, goggles, gloves, shoe covers, and a facemask in an effort to obtain 100% skin coverage. Acts as a resource and consultant to physicians, referral sources, and consumers regarding potential adverse reactions, and interactions, related to drugs dispensed. Interacts outside nursing agencies; coordinates with nursing personnel regarding patient care, drug delivery, and clinical assessment to insure compliance and utmost patient safety Must have experience managing Pharmacy Technicians and pharmacy support staff. Directly supervises pharmacy ancillary employees in the appropriate compounding, packaging, and labeling of compounded sterile products. Must be able to ensure that the facility meets and exceeds all state and federal regulations and requirements Maintains appropriate documentation of the care delivered to consumers and of drug prescriptions and compounding as described in the Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual and as mandated by individual State Board requirements. Oversees all aspects of employee orientation and compliance. Completes assigned paperwork/documents as directed in a timely manner. Ensure the facilty is ready for survey/inspection at all times. Shares knowledge gained with other staff members and works as a team member. Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner. Performs other job related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of laminar air flow theory and knowledge of drug stability and incompatibility. Must be able to fully comply with garbing requirements outlined in the essential duties and responsibilities section as well as in company policies and procedures for extended periods of time. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, referral sources, physicians, and consumers. Knowledgeable of current clinical issues, industry practice standards, and accreditation standards and ability to incorporate these standards into daily practice. Demonstrates extreme attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Mathematics proficiency. Strong analytical skills. Knowledge and use of repeater pump, analytical balance, and hot plate. Good personal hygiene. Must follow all personnel hygiene and gowning requirements as outlined in USP . Basic computer proficiency and knowledge in the use of Microsoft applications.
